Palm Pre privacy issues

Software developer Joey Hess discovered that his Palm pre sends information to Palm about his location, application crashes and third party apps, on a daily basis over a secure connection. Palm has released a statement in which they say that users can turn certain features on and off, and that Palm takes privacy very serious.

Joey Hess eventually found a way to turn off the data collection by Palm and Palm commented on the issue that it has no intentions to violate trust. Yeah, surely Palm is not interested in violating trust, after all they did allow the user to turn off data collection, right?
